Job description

We are recruiting for an exciting opportunity within the aerospace sector, working as part of a collaborative Business Development team to prepare accurate, commercially competitive estimates for fast-paced "Speed Shop/AOG" requirements and new business opportunities. The RoleAs an Estimator, you will play a key role in securing new business by producing detailed cost estimates and supporting the development of winning customer proposals. Working closely with Engineering, Operations, Strategic Sourcing and Programme teams, you'll ensure estimates are technically robust, commercially competitive and aligned with manufacturing capabilities. Key Responsibilities • Prepare and compile accurate estimates in response to customer requests for quotation and proposals. • Analyse customer drawings, specifications, datasets and supply requirements to identify material, subcontract and manufacturing needs. • Develop detailed cost models covering raw materials, bought-out items, subcontract operations and manufacturing processes. • Collaborate with Engineering, Operations and Supply Chain teams to produce competitive bid submissions. • Support the development and continuous improvement of estimating best practices. • Liaise with machine tool and cutting tool manufacturers to identify optimal manufacturing solutions and investment opportunities. • Present cost proposals to customers, explaining estimating assumptions and demonstrating technical capability. • Support the successful handover of awarded projects to the Programmes team, ensuring bid assumptions and manufacturing strategies are clearly communicated. • Review estimating activity and pipeline performance with the Business Development team. About YouWe're looking for someone with a strong combination of commercial awareness, technical understanding and aerospace manufacturing experience. You'll ideally have: • An Engineering qualification (HNC or above preferred). • Previous experience in estimating, costing or business development within an engineering or manufacturing environment. • Extensive knowledge of aerospace manufacturing, particularly aerostructures, metallic components and assembly processes. • Strong understanding of raw materials, machining processes, productivity and manufacturing resources. • Experience producing detailed cost models and commercial estimates. • Excellent numerical, analytical and financial skills with exceptional attention to detail. • An understanding of programme management and production planning principles. • A proactive, self-motivated approach with a positive, solution-focused mindset. • Flexibility to travel between manufacturing sites and customer locations when required.
