Head of Payroll ServicesLarge Acute NHS Trust | London (Hybrid Working) | £416 per day Umbrella Venn Group is supporting a large acute NHS Trust in London with the recruitment of an experienced Head of Payroll Services on an interim basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior payroll professional with substantial public sector experience to lead a high-performing payroll function responsible for delivering an accurate, compliant and customer-focused service across a large and complex organisation. The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership whilst ensuring the effective day-to-day delivery of payroll, pensions and associated services. Key Responsibilities • Lead the overall management, performance and strategic development of the Payroll Services function. • Ensure the delivery of an accurate, timely and compliant payroll service for a large workforce. • Oversee all statutory returns, pension submissions and payroll compliance requirements, ensuring adherence to relevant legislation and deadlines. • Manage departmental budgets, business planning and service improvement initiatives. • Develop and implement policies, procedures and system enhancements to improve operational efficiency. • Act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders across Finance, HR and the wider organisation. • Lead, motivate and develop a large payroll team, driving high standards of service delivery and performance. Essential Requirements • Significant payroll management experience gained within a large public sector organisation, ideally within the NHS. • Proven experience leading a sizeable payroll service and managing large teams. • Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, statutory reporting requirements and pension administration. • Experience of driving service improvements and managing complex payroll operations. • Excellent stakeholder management, communication and leadership skills. • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. • Experience using large-scale payroll systems, with NHS ESR experience highly desirable.
