Job description

Your new company A leading food manufacturing and distribution organisation is seeking a Head of Logistics & Supply Chain to lead its end-to-end supply chain operation from its Hull site. This is a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced supply chain professional with expertise across procurement, logistics, warehousing and inventory management within a fast-paced, temperature-controlled environment. Reporting to the Operations Director, you will play a key role in supporting business growth, strengthening supplier partnerships, improving operational performance and delivering a resilient, efficient supply chain. Working closely with cross-functional teams across operations, production, sales, quality and finance, you will help drive continuous improvement while maintaining high standards of compliance, customer service and cost control. Your new role As Head of Logistics & Supply Chain, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across purchasing, supply chain planning, warehousing and distribution. You will be responsible for the sourcing of fresh and frozen raw materials, packaging, ingredients and consumables, while developing strong supplier relationships across domestic and international markets. The role will involve leading supply chain strategy, improving forecasting and inventory management, and developing contingency plans that support continuity of supply. You will oversee inbound and outbound logistics operations, managing third-party logistics providers and transport partners to deliver high levels of service and cost efficiency. A strong focus on cold chain integrity, on-time-in-full performance and warehouse optimisation will form a key part of your remit. You will also take ownership of compliance, food safety and risk management activities, maintaining full traceability across the supply chain and supporting regulatory and customer requirements. Alongside this, you will drive continuous improvement initiatives, analyse performance data, develop supply chain reporting capabilities and support the optimisation of business systems and processes. As a senior leader, you will coach and develop your team, build strong cross-functional relationships and promote a collaborative culture across the organisation. What you'll need to succeed To be successful in this Head of Logistics & Supply Chain position, you will have significant experience leading supply chain, procurement, logistics and warehousing functions within a manufacturing, food production, FMCG or closely related environment. You will have a proven track record of supplier relationship management, contract negotiation, inventory optimisation and logistics performance improvement. Experience managing temperature-controlled supply chains, third-party logistics providers and complex supplier networks will be highly advantageous. You will be comfortable driving forecasting improvements, managing operational risk and delivering cost-saving initiatives while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance. Strong leadership skills are essential, alongside the ability to influence stakeholders across multiple departments. You will be commercially aware, analytical in your approach and committed to continuous improvement and operational excellence. What you'll get in return In return, you will receive a salary of £65,000 to £70,000 and the opportunity to join a growing organisation in a strategic leadership role. This position offers the chance to shape supply chain strategy, influence business performance and lead a critical function within a dynamic food manufacturing and distribution environment. You will work Monday to Friday from the Hull location and play a key role in developing supply chain capability, strengthening supplier partnerships and delivering long-term operational improvements across the business.
