Job description

Clinical activity Deliver one headache clinic session per week within the Oxford Community Headache Clinic. Provide a mixed model of consultations, approximately three telephone (remote) clinics to every one face-to-face (in-person) clinic (3:1 ratio), in line with service design and patient need. Assess, diagnose and manage adults referred with primary headache disorders (e.g. migraine, tension-type headache, cluster headache and other trigeminal autonomic cephalalgias) and medication-overuse headache. Recognise and appropriately triage patients with features suggestive of secondary headache or 'red flag' symptoms, escalating to the supervising Consultant Neurologist and arranging timely investigation or referral as required. Initiate, titrate and review acute and preventive headache treatments, including lifestyle advice, oral preventives and, where the service permits and competencies are held, specialist therapies (e.g. greater occipital nerve blocks, referral for CGRP-targeted therapies or botulinum toxin). Order and interpret appropriate investigations within agreed protocols and act on results.
