HR & Payroll Coordinator | Birmingham |
Katie Bard is partnering with a well-established, international business in Birmingham to appoint an HR & Payroll Coordinator. This is a newly structured role sitting within a small, close-knit UK HR function, reporting to the HR Business Partner and working closely with an international central HR team.
This is a genuinely varied role, built for someone who wants payroll depth without losing the breadth of a true HR generalist position.
This role is 5 days in office with free parking onsite in Birmingham city centre.
Payroll & HR Administration
You will coordinate monthly payroll end to end, liaising directly with an external payroll provider, and hold solid working knowledge of SSP, P11Ds, P45s and statutory maternity pay. You'll also manage contract creation and amendments, liaise with the pension provider, and keep HR records and digital personnel files accurate and audit-ready.
Recruitment & Onboarding
You will coordinate recruitment from job posting through to offer, manage onboarding and run inductions for new starters, and act as a point of liaison across other offices on hiring activity.
Employee Lifecycle & Support
You will manage absence, sickness and maternity tracking and reporting, support probation and offboarding processes, respond to day-to-day HR queries from managers and employees, and provide administrative support on employee relations and grievance matters.
Process & Projects
You will help audit HR processes for consistency, support policy updates, and contribute ideas for improving efficiency across HR systems. You'll also get involved in wider HR projects spanning retention, employee health and employer branding.
Applicants MUST have
• Proven, hands-on payroll experience this is essential for this role
• Previous experience as an HR Assistant, HR Coordinator or HR Administrator
• Solid knowledge of UK employment law and payroll legislation
• Strong organisational skills and genuine attention to detail, this role touches multiple linked systems and processes
• Confidence engaging stakeholders at all levels, and comfort working independently
• High proficiency in Microsoft Office; HRIS system exposure is desirable, full training provided
