Clinical Practice
Strive for continuity of care and informed client choice within the limitations of the service.
Facilitate the learning of immunisation and vaccination skills through supervision, teaching and support.
Actively promote and encourage a healthy lifestyle, advising and arranging vaccination support for women as required.
Practice, maintain and teach vaccination clinical skills to appropriate staff groups e.g. Midwives, Obstetricians, student midwives and medical students, nurses and maternity support worker colleagues. Ensure that appropriate vaccinations are offered to all pregnant women and that they are actively encouraged to uptake. Ensure that each women and her partner are given up to date informed choice regarding immunisations. Maintain up to date medical immunisation records.
• Facilitate the learning of clinical immunisation skills through supporting /supervising appropriate colleagues.
• Support women in accepting the offer of all 3 immunisations in pregnancy and their partner
• Ensure quality standards are met.
• Influence policy through setting, monitoring and reviewing standards and procedures within the clinical governance framework.
• Participate in audit programmes in line with service development and needs.
• Maintain up to date professional knowledge, which is demonstrated through clinical practice.
• Maintain ordering and storing of vaccinations ensuring they are quality checked in and out and correct storage, refrigerator temperature recording and monitoring.
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate the care of pregnant women regarding their options of vaccinations during pregnancy in accordance with the Trusts policies and guidelines
