The role:
The purpose of the role is to deliver training and develop training programmes, to assess competence and provide development plans aimed primarily but not exclusively at GMFRS operational staff
To assist in maintaining the competence of operational staff at a levels to ensures they can operate safely and competently at operational incidents
Review the effectiveness of incident command development simulations to ensure that it meets the needs of the learner and supports them in career progression, developing independence and achieving identified qualifications.
To provide quality assurance of the training and development programmes delivered.
About you:
We are inviting applications from highly motivated, existing substantive Watch Managers for the Role of Incident Command Training Instructor, Based within the Leadership & Development Academy, at Bury Training & Safety Centre.
It is a requirement that you are currently working as a high performer Watch Manager (this should be visible on your PRA), be fully competent in your current role at ICL1, and be up to date within MOC training areas.
It is desirous to have or be expected to work towards qualification in one or more of the areas identified in the role profile:
• SFJ L3 Award in Education and Training
• Internal Quality Assurance IQA
• SFJ L3 Assessing Vocational Achievement
• CMI Level 3 Coaching & Mentoring
• IOSH Safety & Management
Key Responsibilities:
• Maintain high levels of technical knowledge, skills and understanding in the subject matter areas to be taught
• Maintain high levels of competence in training delivery methods
• Risk assess training venues and delivery methods prior to commencement of training programmes
• Deliver Operational Business support corporate Training and Development programmes to GMFRS operational staff
• Provide objective assessments of competence for operational staff
• Ensure evaluation of training and development activity in terms of effectiveness to provide quality assurance information and completion of appropriate audits.
• Identify development requirements for operational staff
• Deliver training and development programmes to other students as required
• Provide objective assessments of competence for other Corporate Trainers via a peer review process
• Provide and prepare development plans to support staff to achieve required standards following any identified gaps in learning following assessments.
• To contribute to the wider departmental duties including, facilitating standardisation, curriculum development contributing to the growth and development of programmes of study and reflecting on own practise to review and implement ways in which the learning experience could be improved.
