Independent Reviewing Officer / Child Protection Conference Chair Location: Oldbury, Sandwell Rate: £38 per hour Contract: Locum | Full-Time | Hybrid Working Start Date: Immediate Are you an experienced and confident Social Worker ready to take the next step in your career? Sandwell Children's Services is looking for a skilled Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) and Conference Chair to join their team in Oldbury on a hybrid working basis. This is a vital safeguarding role where you will provide independent oversight and ensure high standards of planning and review for children in care and children subject to child protection plans. Key Responsibilities: • Chair Child Protection Conferences and Looked After Children (LAC) Reviews • Provide robust challenge and oversight to care planning and decision-making • Ensure all reviews are child-focused, timely, and compliant with statutory guidance • Maintain independence in upholding children's rights and promoting best outcomes • Monitor performance and escalate concerns where drift or delay occurs • Work collaboratively with internal teams and partner agencies • Contribute to service development and quality assurance Requirements: • Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration • Previous experience as an IRO and/or Child Protection Conference Chair • Strong understanding of Working Together to Safeguard Children and IRO Handbook • Skilled in chairing complex meetings and managing sensitive discussions • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service • Randstad Care acts as an employment business when supplying temporary staff and as an employment agency when introducing candidates for permanent employment with a client.
