VIQU has partnered with a leading education organisation to recruit a Senior IT Infrastructure & Network Engineer for one of its schools in Salisbury. This is an opportunity to join a large, established education trust during a significant period of transformation, supporting the technology behind a newly merged all-through school.
This is a hands-on technical position with some leadership responsibility. You will oversee an onsite IT Technician while reporting to the IT, Data and Transformation Manager. With a long-standing MSP contract coming to an end, you will take greater ownership of the school’s infrastructure and help maintain a secure, reliable and high-performing environment for staff and students.
Key responsibilities
• Manage and maintain Azure, Azure AD, Intune and Windows Server 2019+ environments.
• Support and administer the school’s network infrastructure, including switching.
• Lead infrastructure upgrades, deployments and technical improvement projects.
• Provide technical leadership and support to the onsite IT Technician.
• Maintain high levels of system availability, security and performance.
• Support education-specific platforms, including Salamander and PaperCut.
• Work closely with internal stakeholders to deliver reliable IT services across the school.
Key requirements
• Previous IT infrastructure experience within a school, college, university or education trust is essential.
• Strong hands-on experience with Azure, Azure AD, Intune and Windows Server.
• Solid networking knowledge, including switching.
• Understanding of the requirements and challenges associated with supporting staff and students in an education environment.
• Comfortable taking ownership of technical environments and supporting junior colleagues.
• Experience with Salamander and PaperCut would be beneficial but is not essential.
• Excellent communication skills with a proactive, solutions-focused approach.
