Job description

Why you should join our Team Ward J82 is a 32 bedded unit within the Abdominal Medicine & Surgery CSU, and specialises in the care of patients with pancreatic and upper gastro intestinal conditions. The patients can be both elective and acute. And due to the acuity and co-morbidities of our patient groups, we work as part of a wide MDT which includes; the clinical teams, ACPs, dieticians, physiotherapy team, and colleagues in critical care and outreach. We are a comparatively large nursing team of over 40 individuals. However, through our supportive leadership team and professional, can-do attitude, we deliver evidence based best practices and care with the feel of a much smaller and close knit team. What you will bring to the role The role is to provide and be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of individualised programmes of care. You will deliver care without supervision and take responsibility as the prime care provider for a group of patients and at all times promote confidence in our commitment to provide excellent compassionate patient care.   The role will involve taking charge of the ward or department as necessary in the absence of the Sister or Charge Nurse.   You will participate in the in-service training, preceptorship and mentorship of junior staff, post basic learners and students as well as maintaining your personal development.   The jobholder will work within an environment caring for adult surgical patients primarily but not restricted to those patients having pancreatic and upper gastro intestinal procedures and management for either long- or short-term conditions.   Please see the attached job description for further information about this vacancy.
