Job description

We are seeking a highly motivated Junior Sales Trader to join our London office, focusing on Japanese equities. The role will support institutional client coverage and execution services, acting as a key link between clients, internal trading desks, and the Japanese market. While prior experience in Japanese equities is highly desirable, we are also interested in candidates with exposure to cross-border equity trading and coordination with overseas trading desks. Key Responsibilities • Support senior sales traders in servicing institutional clients (asset managers, hedge funds, etc.) • Execute client orders in Japanese equities in an accurate and timely manner • Monitor market movements, news flow, and corporate events related to Japanese stocks • Provide clients with market colour, trade ideas, and execution updates • Seamlessly liaise closely with Tokyo trading desk to ensure seamless order handling and information flow • Coordinate with traders across different time zones to facilitate overnight and cross-market trading activity • Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders (research, compliance, operations) • Ensure all activities comply with regulatory requirements (FCA) and internal policies • Assist in trade reporting, booking, and post-trade processes Required Qualifications & Skills • Bachelor’s degree (Finance, Economics, or related field preferred) • Up to 5 years of relevant experience in sales trading, trading, or equity-related roles • Strong interest in global equity markets with an emphasis on Japanese markets • Fluent in English (Japanese language skills are not required) • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills • Ability to work effectively across time zones in a fast-paced environment • High attention to detail and ability to perform under pressure • Strong numerical and analytical skills • A flexible mindset to understand equity and equity-linked products.
