Learning Support Assistant • Location: Horsham • Job Type: 1 year long term supply • Working Hours: Monday to Friday, term time only, 8:30 AM - 3:15 PM (including a half-hour lunch break) We are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join a vibrant school community in Horsham. This role is crucial in providing support for individual children or groups of pupils within Reception/Year 1, including those with special needs, across the curriculum. You will assist the teacher in the classroom and with other school activities, contributing significantly to our inclusive learning environment. Day-to-day of the role: • Support groups or individuals with learning activities set by the teacher. • Prepare and develop resources to assist pupils with specific needs. • Maintain effective communication with the class teacher regarding pupils’ progress. • Contribute to the planning and assessment activities conducted by the class teacher. • Deliver specialist interventions as required by the Inclusion Leader. • Support pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) to integrate socially and academically. • Manage pupil behaviour in accordance with the school’s behaviour policy. • Adapt the learning environment to meet the needs of individual pupils. • Undertake midday supervision, including setting up activities and administering first aid (training provided). • Engage in relevant professional development, including attending INSET days. • Participate in discussions about pupils’ progress and needs. Required Skills & Qualifications: • Experience in supporting children within an educational setting, particularly those with SEN. • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently. • Commitment to professional development and learning. • Flexibility to undertake a variety of tasks to support the needs of the school.
