Locum Litigation Lawyer – Predominantly Remote Working – £55-£60 Umbrella – South West Venn Group’s specialist Public Sector Legal team is pleased to be assisting a South West Local Authority which is seeking to appoint an experienced Locum Litigation Lawyer to join its team for an initial term of 3-6 months, subject topotential extension thereafter. The successful candidate will be a Qualified Lawyer (Solicitors, Barristers and highly experienced CILEX professionals) with recent local government experience. A background in both civil and criminal litigation is required. Duties and responsibilities may include: • Handling a busy and varied caseload of general civil and criminal litigation matters including general civil claims, ASB possessions, rent arrears, injunctions, licensing appeals, trading standards, highways advice, judicial reviews and pre-action protocol letters • Reviewing case files, evaluating evidence, analysing witness statements, and drafting court applications, orders and other associated documentation • Attending court and tribunal proceedings, conducting advocacy including contested hearings alongside instructing and briefing counsel where required • Liaising with external agencies and partners as required An attractive hourly rate of up to £60 per hour Umbrella is offered for this position dependent on experience. The successful candidate will be expected to attend court up to twice per month, with remote working available the remainder of the time.
