An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Manual Machinist to join a well-established and reputable engineering business based in West Bromwich. This is a fantastic role for someone who takes pride in precision work and has strong experience operating manual lathes and milling machines.
The Role
As a Manual Machinist, you will be responsible for producing high-quality, low-volume and bespoke components to tight tolerances. You will work from engineering drawings and be confident setting and operating manual machinery independently.
Key Responsibilities
• Set up and operate manual lathes and milling machines
• Interpret and work from technical engineering drawings
• Machine components to tight tolerances and high-quality standards
• Carry out basic quality checks using measuring equipment (verniers, micrometers, etc.)
• Work with a range of materials including mild steel, stainless steel, and alloys
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment
Requirements
• Proven experience in a manual machining role
• Strong knowledge of manual turning and milling processes
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Experience using measuring tools and quality inspection techniques
• Self-motivated with a high attention to detail
• Apprenticeship or equivalent engineering qualification (desirable)
