Mechanical Design Engineer Leicestershire (with occasional UK and international travel) Up to £35,000- Dependent on Experience Permanent, Full-Time Rise10 Recruitment are working with a specialist engineering consultancy supporting clients across the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and life sciences sectors. We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a growing engineering team and play a key role in delivering innovative, practical engineering solutions for highly regulated manufacturing environments. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated Mechanical Design Engineer looking to develop their career within a specialist engineering environment. Working alongside experienced senior engineers, you will gain exposure to the complete project lifecycle from initial client discussions and site surveys through to design, manufacture, installation and commissioning. The role offers the chance to build strong technical and practical engineering skills while working on a diverse range of bespoke equipment and engineering projects. The Role As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will support the design and delivery of bespoke mechanical equipment and engineering solutions for clients within the pharmaceutical and life sciences industries. You will be involved in a variety of projects, working closely with experienced engineers, project teams and clients to develop solutions that are safe, compliant and fit for purpose. • Support the design and development of bespoke mechanical equipment, producing and updating engineering drawings, including GA drawings, fabrication drawings and component drawings using AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor. • Assist with equipment modifications, upgrades, continuous improvement projects, engineering specifications and technical documentation, working closely with electrical, controls and project engineers to deliver integrated solutions. • Attend client sites to carry out engineering surveys, gather technical information, take measurements and assess equipment layouts, service routes and installation requirements. • Support client discussions, project meetings and the development of practical engineering solutions, while building strong professional relationships with customers and colleagues. • Maintain accurate engineering records, drawing revisions and project documentation, including drawing packages, as-built information, component specifications and operation and maintenance documentation. • Support equipment installation, commissioning and testing activities, ensuring work is completed safely, professionally and in line with company quality standards. • Follow health and safety procedures, support risk assessment activities and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement while actively participating in training and professional development opportunities. About You We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer who is enthusiastic, practical and keen to develop within a specialist engineering environment. Essential: • A qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline (HNC/HND, apprenticeship or equivalent). • A good understanding of mechanical engineering principles. • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical information. • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. • Good written and verbal communication skills. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. • A willingness to learn and develop new technical skills. • Ability to work independently and as part of a small engineering team. Desirable: • Experience using AutoCAD and/or Autodesk Inventor. • Experience producing engineering drawings. • Practical engineering, manufacturing or workshop experience. • Understanding of fabrication and machining processes. • Exposure to site surveys, installation or commissioning activities. • Engineering placement, internship or apprenticeship experience. • Experience within regulated industries such as pharmaceutical, biotechnology, food or chemical processing.
