Main Duties and ResponsibilitiesReception Duties
• Greet patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
• Respond to patient enquiries both in person and over the telephone.
• Book, amend, and cancel appointments in accordance with practice procedures.
• Care navigate patients to the most appropriate healthcare professional or service.
• Maintain the reception area to a high standard.
Administrative Duties
• Process incoming and outgoing correspondence.
• Scan, file, and maintain patient records accurately.
• Register new patients and update patient demographic information as required.
• Support clinicians and management with administrative tasks as required.
• Process prescription requests in line with practice procedures.
Communication and Customer Service
• Provide excellent customer service at all times.
• Communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, healthcare professionals, and external organisations.
• Deal sensitively and confidentially with patient information.
• Handle challenging situations calmly and professionally.
General Responsibilities
• Adhere to practice policies, procedures, and confidentiality requirements.
• Maintain awareness of safeguarding and health and safety responsibilities.
• Participate in training and development activities as required.
• Work flexibly to support the needs of the practice.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good organisational and administrative skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a team.
• Good IT skills and confidence using computer systems.
• Professional, reliable, and approachable manner.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
• Flexible approach to work and willingness to provide additional cover when required.
Desirable Criteria
• Previous reception or customer service experience.
• Experience working within a healthcare or NHS environment.
• Knowledge of GP clinical systems such as EMIS Web.
• Understanding of NHS primary care services.
