Neighbourhood Officer - St Helens - 9 month Maternity cover

Hays are proud to be working in partnership with a leading social housing provider to recruit an experienced Neighbourhood Officer on a 9-month maternity cover contract. Your New Role
As a Neighbourhood Officer, you will be responsible for managing a designated housing patch, acting as the primary point of contact for residents and delivering a high-quality, responsive housing management service. This is a varied and rewarding role that combines tenancy management, neighbourhood improvement, resident engagement and partnership working. You will play a key role in helping customers sustain their tenancies while ensuring communities remain safe, attractive and well managed.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage a defined portfolio of properties, delivering effective tenancy and estate management services.
• Provide advice and support to tenants, residents and stakeholders on housing-related matters.
• Undertake core tenancy management activities, including:
• Abandoned properties
• Unauthorised occupation
• Tenancy fraud investigations
• Access issues
• Changes in household circumstances
• Conduct property viewings, tenancy audits, property inspections, new tenancy visits and starter tenancy reviews.
• Attend evictions where required and ensure all associated procedures are followed.
• Analyse neighbourhood and performance data to identify risks and target resources effectively.
• Ensure compliance with relevant housing legislation, regulatory requirements and insurance obligations.
• Manage anti-social behaviour (ASB), nuisance and tenancy breach cases, taking appropriate enforcement action where necessary.
• Support tenancy sustainment initiatives by assessing customer needs, reducing risk and promoting independent living.
• Work collaboratively with internal departments and external agencies to resolve complex cases.
• Actively contribute to neighbourhood improvements and resident engagement activities.
• Deliver excellent customer service while meeting performance targets and service standards.
What You'll Need to Succeed
• Experience within housing management, neighbourhood services or a customer-facing housing environment.
• Experience of managing ASB and nuisance cases.
• Strong understanding of housing legislation and tenancy management practices.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
• The ability to manage a varied caseload and prioritise competing demands.
• A proactive, solutions-focused approach and the ability to work independently.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use.
