Job description
Network Operations Engineer - Data Centre & DMZ | £70-75 per hour (Inside IR35) | 6 months initially, with potential to extend (Remote, UK) | 4-day working week, maximum 40 hours, worked on a rota basis
We're looking for an experienced network operations engineer to join a Tier 2 support function covering global data centre and DMZ infrastructure. We're looking for someone who is a hands on troubleshooter with strong protocol knowledge and comfortable owning incidents through to resolution.
What You'll Be Doing:
• Acting as a senior Tier 2 point of contact for incidents affecting data centre and DMZ network infrastructure
• Working across Cisco ASR/ISR routers, Cisco Nexus and Catalyst switches, and Arista DCS/CloudVision, covering internet routing, aggregation, distribution and access layers
• Stakeholder management experience
• Spotting potential failure points, vulnerabilities and improvement opportunities before they become incidents
• Running proactive checks such as DR testing and reviewing observability gaps across the network stack
What We're Looking For:
• Strong hands-on experience with core networking: TCP/IP, IPv4, Layer 2 protocols, Multicast, BGP, EIGRP, QoS, UDP, OSPF, carrier circuits, leased line, broadband, DIA, and tunnelling protocols
• Comfortable working with JIRA, Confluence and Agile/Scrum
• Exposure to monitoring/diagnostic tooling such as SevOne, Splunk, Netscout, Wireshark, NNMi, OBM, IBM Watson or NSO
• Some exposure to network automation tools and practices
