Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an organised and detail-oriented Payroll Clerk to join a well-established and growing business. This part-time position is perfect for someone with previous payroll experience who is looking for a role that offers flexibility, stability, and the opportunity to work within a friendly and supportive finance team. Working closely alongside both the finance and HR teams, you will take ownership of the payroll function, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time while maintaining full compliance with current payroll legislation. Your responsibilities will include processing weekly and monthly payrolls from start to finish, managing starters and leavers, processing salary amendments, overtime, bonuses and deductions, calculating statutory payments including SSP, SMP and SPP, and administering workplace pension contributions. Alongside your payroll responsibilities, you will act as the first point of contact for employee payroll queries, providing a professional and efficient service while also supporting the wider finance team with administrative duties where required. This is a varied role that offers plenty of autonomy while working within a collaborative and supportive environment. What We're Looking For: • Previous experience working within a payroll position, with confidence processing payroll accurately from start to finish in a busy environment. • Strong attention to detail with the ability to work accurately under pressure, ensuring payroll deadlines are consistently met without compromising quality. • Confident using payroll software and Microsoft Excel, with the ability to quickly adapt to new systems and technology where required. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships and respond professionally to confidential payroll queries from employees and colleagues. • A proactive and self-motivated approach, with the ability to work independently while also contributing positively as part of a collaborative finance team. What You'll Receive: • A competitive salary offered on a pro-rata basis, reflecting your skills, experience, and the value you bring to the team. • Flexible part-time working hours, allowing you to achieve a healthy work-life balance around your personal commitments. • A friendly, welcoming, and supportive working environment where collaboration is encouraged and your contributions are genuinely recognised. • The opportunity to join a stable and growing business that is committed to investing in its people and promoting long-term career development. • Free on-site parking and excellent transport links, making your daily commute as convenient as possible. Summary: If you're an experienced Payroll Clerk looking for a flexible part-time opportunity where you can make a real impact, we'd love to hear from you. This is an excellent opportunity to join a business that genuinely values its employees and offers a positive, supportive working culture.
