Payroll Assistant Location: Romford, Essex Salary:£28,000 - £32,000 per annum (depending on experience) Job Type: Permanent, Full Time The OpportunityAn established and growing business is seeking an experienced Payroll Assistant to join its Accounts team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with end-to-end payroll experience who enjoys working in a busy, supportive environment where accuracy and attention to detail are key. Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you'll take ownership of the monthly payroll process for approximately 400 employees across multiple locations, ensuring payroll is delivered accurately, compliantly and on time. Key Responsibilities • Process end-to-end monthly payroll for approximately 400 employees across five locations. • Administer new starter documentation, including P45s, HMRC New Starter Checklists and bank details. • Ensure all payroll data, including salaries, overtime, bonuses and deductions, is accurate before processing. • Liaise with internal departments regarding payroll adjustments, salary sacrifice schemes and expenses. • Manage pension administration, including reconciliations and data uploads. • Support company vehicle administration, including P11D reporting, private mileage and Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs). • Ensure payroll processes remain compliant with current legislation and company policies. About YouWe're looking for someone who has: • Previous experience processing end-to-end payroll. • Experience using Sage 50 Payroll (essential). • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook. • Strong communication and organisational skills. • A proactive, professional approach with excellent problem-solving ability. Desirable: • CIPP qualification. • Experience administering workplace pensions, ideally Aviva.
