Location: London (Hybrid working - minimum two days per week in the office) Our client, a leading UK actuarial and consulting firm, is looking to appoint a Pensions Actuarial Associate Consultant to join its established Defined Benefit pensions team. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a broad range of pension schemes, from smaller arrangements through to multi-billion-pound funds, providing actuarial advice to trustees and sponsoring employers. You'll gain exposure to a wide variety of technical and client-facing work while developing your consulting skills within a collaborative and supportive environment. The role As a Pensions Actuarial Associate Consultant, you will work across a diverse client portfolio, supporting the delivery of high-quality actuarial advice and consulting services. Key responsibilities include: • Preparing actuarial valuations for funding, solvency, Section 179 and pension risk management exercises. • Supporting pension risk transfer and buy-in feasibility projects where appropriate. • Attending client meetings and presenting analysis and recommendations. • Managing and reviewing work completed by junior team members. • Performing and checking individual member calculations, including transfer values and pension benefits. • Producing actuarial factors, including early retirement, late retirement and commutation factors. • Preparing pension accounting disclosures under IAS19 and US GAAP. • Supporting data validation, benefit correction and equalisation projects. • Liaising with pension administrators and other professional advisers to ensure the successful delivery of client work. • Contributing to a range of wider consulting projects as client requirements evolve. Depending on your interests and experience, there may also be opportunities to become involved in specialist areas such as pension risk transfer, longevity, GMP equalisation, and emerging pension solutions. About you We're looking for candidates who can demonstrate: • Part-qualified FIA status (or equivalent actuarial qualification in progress). • Previous experience within a UK pensions actuarial consulting environment. • A good understanding of current developments affecting the UK pensions market. • Strong analytical and technical actuarial skills with excellent attention to detail. • Experience preparing actuarial calculations and communicating findings clearly. • The ability to review and delegate work effectively to junior colleagues. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with confidence presenting to clients and stakeholders. • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple projects. • A collaborative approach and the ability to build effective relationships with clients and colleagues.
