Butler Rose is working with a well-established and growing manufacturer in the Honiton area to recruit an experienced Production Planning Manager.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a driven planning professional to take ownership of production planning activities, lead a small team, and play a key role in improving operational performance across the business.
The Role
Reporting into senior leadership, you will be responsible for managing production planning processes end-to-end, ensuring efficient schedules, strong customer delivery performance, and continuous improvement across planning systems and processes.
Key responsibilities will include:
• Translating demand and capacity requirements into achievable production plans
• Managing and optimising planning and scheduling systems (MRP / ERP)
• Monitoring capacity, identifying bottlenecks, and driving improvements in output
• Working closely with production, procurement, and stores teams to ensure alignment
• Analysing BOMs to support make vs buy decisions
• Supporting cost estimation and quoting through material and labour analysis
• Leading, coaching, and developing the production planning team
• Driving improvements through KPI tracking and data-led decision making
• Ensuring data accuracy across planning systems and processes
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
• Proven experience in a production planning or scheduling role within manufacturing
• Experience leading or mentoring a team
• Strong understanding of capacity planning, demand forecasting, and MRP systems
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• The ability to communicate effectively across multiple departments
• A proactive approach with strong organisational skills
