Plumber Job at HMP Springhill HP18 0TL £20.28 per Hour - Long Term Temporary Role A Plumber is required for a long term temporary role at HMP Springhill, HP18 0TL. This position offers stable weekday working hours and the opportunity to join a highly committed estates and maintenance team within the HM Prison Service. As a leading recruitment partner to the Ministry of Justice for maintenance and trade professionals, Hays is recruiting a Maintenance Plumber to support the facilities team at HMP Springhill. The Plumber plays a key role in maintaining essential plumbing, heating and mechanical services across the site, ensuring compliance, safety and high quality maintenance standards. Key Responsibilities You will complete the installation, testing and commissioning of plumbing and mechanical systems in line with your qualifications and Health and Safety regulations. You will deliver planned maintenance, reactive repairs and small works, responding to tasks raised through the CAFM system and prioritising work effectively. Duties include undertaking general maintenance, fault finding, inspections at height and in confined spaces, recording all work accurately, maintaining stock levels and ensuring materials are fit for purpose. You will supervise and support prisoners during relevant work activities, escort and oversee contractors in line with security procedures, operate vehicles and plant equipment when qualified, carry out locking duties and respond safely to emergency or urgent tasks. You will maintain regular radio communication and accept competent or authorised responsibilities under GFSL safe systems of work. Skills and Experience Required To be successful in this role you will hold C&G 6035 (Plumbing), C&G 6189 (Plumbing and Heating), NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing or Level 2 Plumbing. An unvented water heater G3 qualification is required. Being Gas Safe registered is desirable but not essential. You should have at least two years experience as a Plumber with experience in commercial or industrial water and heating systems. You should have good knowledge of planned preventive maintenance, Water Supply Regulations and, ideally L8 Legionella requirements. Legionella training can be provided. This role starts on a temporary basis but offers potential for long term or permanent opportunities within the existing maintenance team. Hours and Pay You will work Monday to Friday, 39 hours per week. Monday to Thursday: 8am to 5pm. Friday: 8am to 4pm. The hourly rate is £20.28 with overtime available through umbrella arrangements. Standard security vetting will be required for this role.
