Job description

The following are the core responsibilities of the Practice Nurse: Providing assessment, screening and treatment services and health education advice; Provide nursing treatments to patients in participation with GPs or independently to agreed protocols; Provide general and specific health screenings to the Practice patients (within agreed protocols) with referral to GPs as necessary; Advise patients on general health care and minor ailments with referral to GPs as necessary; Cytology and sexual health screening; Assist in managing and monitoring Practice cervical cytology failsafe system; Chronic Disease management (e.g. care of patients with Diabetes, CHD, COPD, Asthma); Contraception advice; Wound care / ulcer care / doppler; Assisting in running INR Clinic near patient testing and dosing using INR Star; Removal of sutures; Travel vaccinations; Asthma / Peak Flow Readings / Spirometry; Venepuncture; Hypertension Management; Spirometry; Routine/ childhood immunisations; Urinalysis; Blood pressure measurements; Requesting basic pathology tests (e.g. urine culture, swabs); Following agreed Infection Prevention and Control, and all clinical protocols. Any other duties required within the Nursing Team role.
