Job description

Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) Working Pattern: Tuesday & Wednesday Hours: 8:30am – 4:00pm (1-hour lunch break) We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support teaching and learning across the school for two days per week. Key Responsibilities • Deliver planned learning activities to individuals, small groups, and whole classes. • Provide high-quality classroom cover in the absence of the class teacher. • Support pupils of varying abilities to access the curriculum and achieve their learning goals. • Assist teachers in the planning, preparation, and delivery of lessons. • Monitor, assess, and record pupil progress, providing feedback where appropriate. • Deliver targeted interventions to support pupil attainment and development. • Promote positive behaviour and contribute to a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment. • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, support staff, and school leaders. Essential Requirements • HLTA qualification or significant experience working at HLTA level. • Experience supporting teaching and learning within a primary school setting. • Confidence in leading whole-class activities and managing classroom behaviour independently. • Strong literacy, numeracy, and communication skills. • Ability to work using initiative and adapt to the needs of different classes and pupils. • Professional, reliable, and flexible approach. Ideal Candidate We are looking for a capable and motivated HLTA who can confidently support learning across the school, provide effective class cover when needed, and make a positive contribution to pupil progress and wellbeing.
