Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)
Working Pattern: Thursday & Friday
Hours: 8:30am – 4:00pm (1-hour lunch break)
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our school team for two days per week. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across the school and will be confident leading learning activities and providing class cover when required.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver planned lessons and learning activities to whole classes, small groups, and individual pupils.
• Provide class cover in the absence of the teacher, ensuring continuity of learning.
• Support pupils to make progress across the curriculum and achieve their individual targets.
• Work closely with teachers to plan, prepare, and evaluate learning activities.
• Assess, monitor, and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teaching staff.
• Deliver intervention programmes to support academic, social, and emotional development.
• Promote positive behaviour and maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
• Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, parents, and external professionals.
Essential Requirements
• HLTA qualification or substantial experience working at HLTA level.
• Experience within a primary school setting.
• Confidence in managing a classroom and delivering lessons independently.
• Strong behaviour management skills.
• Excellent communication, literacy, and numeracy skills.
• Ability to work flexibly and use initiative to meet the needs of the school.
• A positive, professional, and proactive approach.

We are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic HLTA who can confidently support teaching and learning across a range of year groups, provide effective classroom cover, and contribute to raising pupil achievement and engagement.
