Job description

Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) Working Pattern: Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday Hours: 8:30am – 4:00pm (1-hour lunch break) We are seeking an experienced and confident Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our team for three days per week. This role is ideal for a skilled practitioner who can work independently, support teaching and learning across the school, and provide class cover when required. Key Responsibilities • Deliver learning activities to individuals, small groups, and whole classes under the direction of teaching staff. • Provide planned class cover in the absence of the class teacher. • Support pupils to achieve their academic, social, and emotional potential. • Work collaboratively with teachers to plan, prepare, and evaluate learning activities. • Assist in assessing, monitoring, and recording pupil progress. • Support the implementation of intervention programmes and targeted support. • Promote positive behaviour and maintain a safe, inclusive learning environment. • Contribute to the wider life of the school and support school policies and procedures. Essential Requirements • HLTA qualification or substantial experience working at HLTA level. • Proven experience supporting teaching and learning within a primary school setting. • Confidence in leading whole-class learning and managing classroom behaviour. • Strong literacy, numeracy, and communication skills. • Ability to work independently and use initiative. • Flexible, adaptable, and able to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents. Ideal Candidate We are looking for a proactive, enthusiastic, and highly capable HLTA who can confidently step into a variety of classroom situations, provide high-quality support to pupils and teachers, and contribute positively to the school's learning environment.
