Job description

A leading Big 4 professional services firm is looking to appoint a Tax Manager to join its growing Private Business team in Manchester. Working with entrepreneurs, privately owned groups, family businesses and private equity-backed organisations, you'll provide commercially focused tax advice across the full business lifecycle from growth and expansion through to restructuring, transactions and succession planning. This is an excellent opportunity for a Corporate Tax or Private Business tax professional looking to broaden their advisory experience, build strong client relationships and develop their career within a highly regarded national team. The Opportunity As a Tax Manager within the Private Business team, you'll manage a diverse portfolio of clients, acting as a trusted adviser on a broad range of corporate and shareholder tax matters. You'll work closely with Partners, Directors and specialists across Tax, Deals and wider advisory teams to deliver practical solutions that help privately owned businesses achieve their commercial objectives. The role offers a varied mix of advisory work, client interaction and team leadership, with the opportunity to make a genuine impact on both clients and colleagues. Key Responsibilities • Manage a portfolio of privately owned businesses, entrepreneurs and private equity-backed clients. • Act as a key point of contact, building trusted relationships with business owners and senior stakeholders. • Provide advice on corporate tax, shareholder issues, business structures and strategic tax planning. • Support clients through business growth, restructures, transactions and wider commercial events. • Identify opportunities to add value through proactive tax advice and wider advisory solutions. • Work collaboratively with specialists across Corporate Tax, Deals, Legal and other advisory teams. • Oversee the delivery of high-quality tax compliance work while identifying opportunities for advisory support. • Manage projects, budgets and deadlines to ensure excellent client service. • Review technical work and coach junior team members, supporting their professional development. • Contribute to the continued growth and success of the Private Business team. About You • ACA, CTA or an equivalent professional qualification. • Strong UK tax technical experience gained within a professional services environment. • Experience advising privately owned businesses, owner-managed businesses or mid-market groups. • A genuine interest in supporting entrepreneurial clients and understanding their commercial goals. • Strong communication skills with the confidence to build relationships with business owners and senior stakeholders. • The ability to manage multiple client engagements and deliver high-quality work within deadlines. • Experience reviewing work and developing junior colleagues. • A proactive and commercially minded approach to client service.
