Role: Procurement Manager - Clinical Laboratories Location: Welwyn, Hertfordshire - hybrid working with two days per week in the office Contract: 12-month contract, outside IR35 Pay: £350-£400 per day LTD/UMB, or £263.88-£301.57 PAYE basic per day, excluding holiday pay An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Procurement Manager - Clinical Laboratories to join Roche, a leading global healthcare organisation committed to advancing science and improving patient outcomes. This role sits within the Indirect Procurement Delivery group and will focus on strategic sourcing, supplier management, contracting and procurement delivery across the Clinical Laboratories category. You will work closely with internal procurement teams and business stakeholders to understand operational requirements, develop sourcing strategies and deliver effective spend-management activities. The role requires strong procurement expertise, commercial awareness and experience within the pharmaceutical industry. Benefits • Competitive day rate • 12-month contract • Outside IR35 • Hybrid working with two days per week in the Welwyn office • Opportunity to work with a leading global pharmaceutical and healthcare organisation • Exposure to complex procurement and sourcing projects • Collaborative and innovative working environment The Requirements • Degree in business or a relevant scientific discipline, such as Biological Sciences, Life Sciences, Chemistry, Biochemistry or a related field • At least five years' procurement experience • Strong experience in strategic sourcing and strategic project execution • Pharmaceutical industry experience • Experience using procurement systems and processes • General understanding of contracting and contract negotiations • Strong supplier-management and negotiation experience • Experience in cost optimisation, market research and commercial analysis • Knowledge of research and development procurement categories • Understanding of relevant research and development regulations, including Good Clinical Practice • Strong project-management skills • Excellent analytical, planning and execution skills • Fluent English at business level • Collaborative, open-minded and committed to continuous improvement The Role • Develop and execute sourcing strategies for Clinical Laboratories • Manage procurement activities across relevant commodities and spend areas • Translate business requirements into sourcing and spend-management plans • Lead supplier selection, negotiation and contracting activities • Manage supplier relationships and support supplier-performance initiatives • Identify cost-saving and cost-optimisation opportunities • Conduct market research and commercial analysis • Support day-to-day procurement operations and customer demand • Improve the internal customer buying experience • Collaborate with teams across business partnering, contracting, analytics and other procurement functions • Deliver procurement projects using robust sourcing and project-management methodologies • Share category knowledge and contribute to continuous improvement across the procurement function Clinical Laboratory Categories The successful candidate should have knowledge or experience across clinical laboratory commodity areas such as: • Genomics and genetics • Bioanalytics • Soluble biomarkers • Flow cytometry • Histopathology • Central laboratory services This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced procurement professional with pharmaceutical industry experience to join a major global healthcare organisation and deliver strategic sourcing solutions across Clinical Laboratories.
