Job description

Reporting to the Managing Director, you will be responsible for continuously improving the manufacturing operations in terms of productivity, quality, safety & operating expense by utilising lean manufacturing techniques. You will also take responsibility for the Maintenance of the sites, its services & production machinery & tooling area. Client Details A true UK manufacturer, with over a 100 year history, manufacturing & providing innovative & reliable products globally, supporting with customer vision from design to production. As the Production Manager, you will play a key part in driving the business forward into the future. Description • Manage operational activities through production supervisors and cell leaders in terms of safety, quality, material flow and cost efficiency to meet the operational and commercial objectives of the business. • A people leader responsible for the Recruitment, Development & Performance Management of all production team members working closely with HR on policy and the adherence to HR process. • Ensure all safety, environmental, and regulatory issues are complied with and any non-conformance or poor practice is dealt with in a timely and efficient manner in collaboration with the HSQE Team . • Responsible for planning and executing production requirements to meet or exceed customer requirements while embedding a culture of continuously improving HSQE outcomes within the production environment using 5S, LEAN as well as other progressive manufacturing methodologies • Responsible for developing and delivering the company maintenance plan through the maintenance team. Production equipment & tooling as well as site and building maintenance is to be completed in line with agreed schedules considering applicable regulation and industry best practice. • Report monthly variance to budget and site performance. • Manage conflict situations and resolve differences in both formal and informal settings. • Utilise analytical skills to reduce complexity and give perspective to situations. • Assess opportunities and risks to give recommendations for future direction. • Show a proactive approach to change and encourage continuous improvement in everything we do. • Show initiative and be decisive in the decision making process. • Ensure execution at all levels of the organisation. • Be sensitive to customer requirements and expectations while having a deep understanding of the markets in which we compete. • Inspire a sense responsibility and loyalty to the company. Profile You will be an experienced Production/Operations Manager with a background in manufacturing (sheet metal would be desirable), along with: • A recognised Manufacturing qualification OR demonstrated experience in a manufacturing environment • Strong knowledge of production processes and operational management. • Good understanding of health and safety regulations in a manufacturing environment. • Effective leadership and communication skills to manage teams successfully - Team of 43 • Problem-solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement. • Ability to work collaboratively across departments to achieve business objectives.
