Recovery Nurse

PRIMARY DUTIES & AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY • Provide high quality care to patients and their families during the perioperative period. • Under the direction of the Recovery Team Leader, the post holder will be responsible for implementing, coordinating and delivering effective, high quality care for the patient during the perioperative period. • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team. • Following a period of preceptorship, take responsibility for the supervision of Health Care Assistants and other learners. • Reporting and documenting all relevant patient needs, communicating changes to other health professionals in the multidisciplinary team. • To carry out duties within the guidelines of the NMC Code of Professional Conduct/HPC professional guidelines. • To contribute to the overall efficiency and development of the theatre service. • No direct budgetary control but must be aware of effective use of resources and cost implications. • Act as Practitioner in charge, in the absence of the Team Leader ensuring efficient allocation of staff and resources. • Demonstrate a commitment to evidence-based practice and clinical excellence and play an active role in the introduction of this evidence to improve patient centred care.
