Job description

Recruitment Assistant Rate of Pay: £12.85 per hour PAYE Location: One Friargate, Coventry, CV1 2FL Contract: Temporary basis, until September 2026, with potential permanent opportunities Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm (30-minute unpaid break) Office-based for the first 4 weeks of training, then moving to a hybrid pattern with 2 days per week onsite. Purpose of the Role Opus People Solutions are currently seeking an experienced Recruitment Assistant to join a busy Recruitment & Onboarding team based in Coventry on behalf of our Client, Coventry City Council. This is an excellent opportunity for a strong administrator who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and has excellent organisational and communication skills. You will play a key role in supporting recruitment and onboarding processes, ensuring documentation is accurately managed and candidates receive a smooth onboarding experience. Key Responsibilities • Managing shared recruitment mailboxes and responding to enquiries • Processing recruitment and onboarding documentation • Monitoring and processing DBS clearances and related queries • Maintaining accurate electronic personnel records and filing systems • Downloading, distributing and managing electronic correspondence • Acting as a first point of contact for internal and external stakeholders • Supporting recruitment and onboarding administration activities • Assisting with service improvement initiatives and project work • Providing administrative support to the wider Recruitment team Essential Requirements • Previous administration experience • Experience working within a fast-paced environment • Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise workloads • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks effectively • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel and Teams • Ability to work independently and as part of a team Desirable Requirements • Previous recruitment or onboarding administration experience • Experience using applicant tracking systems (ATS) • Experience working within a large or complex organisation • Understanding of recruitment and onboarding processes and legislation If you are a motivated administrator looking for your next opportunity within a busy and supportive recruitment team, we would love to hear from you.
