Attendance Officer
• Annual Salary: £32,215 - £34,211 FTE (£28,172 - £29,918 pro rata)
• Location: West /Central London, London
• Job Type: Full-time - Potentially temp - permanent for the right person
We are seeking a proactive and dedicated Attendance Officer to play a key role in supporting and improving student attendance across the school. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students’ education by helping them overcome barriers to learning and promoting a culture of punctuality, consistency, and engagement.
Day-to-day of the role:
• Monitor, analyse, and report on student attendance using our management systems (Arbor).
• Communicate effectively with students, parents/carers, and staff to ensure a robust approach to attendance and punctuality.
• Work closely with the AVP and Education Welfare Officer to design, implement, and evaluate attendance interventions.
• Build positive relationships with families to support students where attendance is a concern, conducting home visits when necessary.
• Collaborate with external agencies and the Local Authority where appropriate, including managing Fixed Penalty Notice referrals and CME procedures.
• Provide accurate data and reports to inform SLT decisions and contribute to whole-school improvement.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
• Organised, approachable, and confident communicator who thrives on building relationships and making a difference.
• Strong attention to detail and a solution-focused mindset.
• Ability to manage competing priorities, identify trends, and take initiative to improve outcomes.
• Experience in an educational setting is preferred.
• Knowledge of attendance legislation and DfE guidance would be advantageous.
