School Sports Coach - SEND & SEMH Specialist Provisions Blackburn, Lancashire £110-£115 per day (dependent on travel and job role) Start Date: September 2026 Full-Time | Monday-Friday | 8:30am-3:30pm | Term Time Only We are currently recruiting for enthusiastic and resilient School Sports Coaches to work within specialist provisions across the Blackburn area, supporting students with SEND and SEMH additional needs. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate about using sport and physical activity to engage young people, promote positive behaviour, and support emotional regulation within specialist educational settings. Role Responsibilities • Delivering and supporting sports, PE, and physical activities for students with additional needs. • Supporting students with SEND and SEMH needs on a 1:1 and small group basis. • Using sport and physical activity to encourage engagement, teamwork, and confidence. • Promoting positive behaviour and supporting emotional regulation strategies. • Building positive and trusting relationships with students to support their development. • Supporting pupils both inside and outside of the classroom environment. • Assisting teachers and support staff in creating a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment. • Working collaboratively with teaching, pastoral, and therapy teams to meet students' individual needs. • Following safeguarding and school policies at all times. Candidate Requirements • A genuine interest in supporting children and young people with additional needs. • Experience in sports coaching, mentoring, youth work, or similar environments is desirable. • An Enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply and pay for one (£56.90). • A minimum of two years of employment history within the last four years, with reference details available for this period. • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships. • A resilient, patient, and adaptable approach to supporting young people. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
