Job description

We are seeking a confident and adaptable Secondary Cover Teacher to join a welcoming and supportive school environment. This role is ideal for an experienced educator who can deliver high-quality lessons across a range of subjects while maintaining excellent classroom standards and student engagement. The Role As a Cover Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering pre-planned lessons across various subjects within a secondary school setting. The successful candidate will be comfortable stepping into different classrooms, building positive relationships quickly, and ensuring a productive learning environment. Key Responsibilities • Deliver engaging lessons across a variety of secondary curriculum subjects. • Maintain strong classroom discipline and effective behaviour management. • Follow school policies and procedures at all times. • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment. • Adapt confidently to teaching subjects outside your specialist area. • Ensure students remain focused, motivated, and on task throughout lessons. The Ideal Candidate Will Have • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification. • Strong classroom presence and the ability to command respect positively. • Excellent behaviour management skills. • Experience teaching within UK secondary schools (preferred). • Confidence teaching across multiple subject areas. • The ability to remain calm, professional, and authoritative in unfamiliar teaching situations. • Strong communication and organisational skills. • A flexible and proactive approach to classroom teaching.
