SEMH Teaching Assistant – September 2026 Start Barnsley Area | Full-Time | Academic Year Contract Are you passionate about supporting children who need additional emotional and behavioural support to thrive in school? We are seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in the Barnsley area from September 2026. This is a rewarding opportunity to work with pupils who require support with their social, emotional and mental health needs, helping them engage positively in education and reach their full potential. The RoleAs an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will: • Support pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs both in and out of the classroom • Build positive and trusting relationships with children • Help pupils regulate emotions and develop positive coping strategies • Work closely with class teachers, SEND staff and parents • Encourage engagement, attendance and positive behaviour for learning • Provide 1:1 and small group support where required We're Looking For • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, behavioural needs or additional support needs • A calm, patient and resilient approach • Strong communication and behaviour management skills • The ability to build positive relationships and act as a positive role model • Experience in education, care, youth work, support work or similar settings is desirable What's on Offer?
