Job description

Tradewind are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Teaching Assistant to join the team in a Secondary school in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire. The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will support pupils and Teachers at a specialist SEN school in Welwyn Garden City with an ethos of independence. The school offer immediate training for all staff, short term temp to permanent contracts and interviews to all successful applicants after just 1 week! Responsibilities: • Support the class teacher in planning, delivering and assessing lessons. • Work with individual pupils with a range of specific needs. • Use a range of specialist strategies and resources to support children with autism, such as visual aids, social stories and sensory activities. • Assist in developing children's life skills, communication, social engagement, emotional and behavioural skills. • Work collaboratively with parents, carers and other professionals to ensure the best outcomes for each child. • Help to maintain accurate records and progress reports to inform ongoing planning and assessment. Requirements: • Experience of working with children or young people, knowledge or experience of supporting pupils with special educational needs (particularly autism) is an advantage. • Those from a care background or experience supporting with feeding or lifting / hoisting • Ability to use a range of specialist strategies and resources to support children with a range of physical and emotional needs. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with parents, carers and other professionals. • Highly organised with good record-keeping skills. • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and demonstrate a positive, flexible and proactive attitude. • If you are passionate about working with children with autism and have the relevant experience, we would love to hear from you.
