Job description

Clinical responsibilities: The post holder will oversee the following: The provision of a high quality Haematology service to all users within the Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust, Medway NHS Foundation Trust and PCT. Ensuring a continuous 24/7 Haematology service at both the Darent Valley and Medway Maritime Hospitals There may be a requirement to work across both NKPS sites and for out of hours shift work should the need arise. Ensuring that all members of staff and visitors follow departmental policies and procedures. The development of the service, including participation in the Kent and Medway Pathology Network programmes. Providing advice to users of the service as required within sphere of knowledge. Provide appropriate and relevant advice on Haematology matters when required. Discuss significantly abnormal results with the Consultant Haematologist and other clinicians. Maintain good housekeeping ad analyser troubleshooting. Maintaining adequate stocks and ensuring efficient use of reagents and consumables. Preparing Standard Operating Procedures to meet UKAS Accreditation requirements, and to meet BSH guidelines; reviewing these on a regular basis to maintain standards.
