Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Linux & Cloud Automation) Manchester / Hybrid | Competitive Salary + On-Call Allowance A leading technology services organisation is looking for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Linux & Cloud Automation) to join its growing infrastructure team. This is a hands-on role focused on Linux administration, cloud operations, automation, and Infrastructure-as-Code across enterprise Azure environments. You'll take ownership of Linux patching, cloud automation, infrastructure deployments, backup operations, and technical escalations while helping drive a modern automation-first approach to infrastructure management. The Role • Own the Linux patching lifecycle across enterprise environments using Ansible • Manage Azure Linux VMs, Update Manager, Backup, and cloud infrastructure services • Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code deployments using Bicep and ARM templates • Build and support Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure automation • Manage Azure Key Vault, secrets, and certificate lifecycle processes • Implement infrastructure changes and contribute to CAB processes • Resolve technical escalations and support major incident response • Participate in a shared on-call rota What We're Looking For • Strong experience in infrastructure engineering, cloud operations, or managed services • Strong Linux administration skills across RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, and/or Oracle Linux • Hands-on Ansible experience for patching, automation, and configuration management • Good Microsoft Azure administration skills, including VMs, networking, backup, and governance • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code using Bicep and/or ARM templates • Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipeline experience • Scripting and automation experience using Bash and/or PowerShell • Strong troubleshooting, incident management, and problem-solving skills Why Join? • Work with modern cloud, automation, and DevOps technologies • Play a key role in driving Infrastructure-as-Code and automation best practices • Gain exposure to large-scale Azure and hybrid cloud environments • Join a highly skilled technical team with strong career progression opportunities • Be involved in cloud transformation and continuous improvement projects • Flexible remote/hybrid working and a competitive package with on-call allowance This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Linux and Cloud Engineer looking to take ownership of automation initiatives and work with cutting-edge cloud technologies in a fast-paced enterprise environment.
