Senior Backend Developer | Java | Spring Boot | Hybrid| Contract RoleLocation: London (Hybrid) 3 days per week in office. Salary: Competitive + Benefits Contract Length: 12 month rolling We're working with a leading global organisation looking to hire a Senior Backend Developer to join a high-performing engineering team. This is an opportunity to work on large-scale, enterprise-grade backend platforms, helping to shape technical architecture while building robust, scalable Java applications. What You'll Do • Design and develop backend applications using Java and Spring Boot • Build and enhance scalable microservices and REST APIs • Drive architectural decisions focused on performance, security and scalability • Work across the full software development lifecycle, from design through to deployment and production support • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver strategic technology initiatives • Champion engineering best practices, code quality and automated testing • Mentor developers and provide technical leadership where needed What We're Looking For • 7+ years of Java backend development experience • Strong knowledge of Java, Spring Boot, Spring Framework, Spring Batch and Spring Integration • Experience building microservices and RESTful APIs • Strong SQL skills and experience with Oracle • Experience with messaging technologies such as Kafka or RabbitMQ • Familiarity with Git, JUnit, Unix/Linux and shell scripting • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP) and CI/CD pipelines • A solid understanding of distributed systems, backend performance and application security What's On Offer • Work on business-critical, enterprise-scale platforms • Opportunity to influence architecture and technical direction • Modern technology stack and collaborative engineering culture • Hybrid working model • Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package If you're a Senior Java Backend Developer looking for your next challenge and enjoy building high-performance, scalable backend systems, we'd love to hear from you.
