Service Manager
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Service Manager to join a high-performing and motivated team within a well-established organisation. The successful candidate will be driven to deliver exceptional customer service while ensuring technicians are supported, engaged, and operating efficiently to provide first-class service and repairs.
Role Purpose
Reporting to senior management, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation and performance of the Service Department, covering a range of machinery including agricultural, construction, and horticultural equipment.
You will oversee service staff, manage customer relationships, and ensure departmental profitability. The role requires maintaining clear and effective communication across technicians, management, and customers.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage the efficient running of the Service Department
• Lead, mentor, and support a team of technicians
• Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and service delivery
• Oversee scheduling, workload distribution, and workshop productivity
• Monitor and manage departmental financial performance, including profit/loss and KPIs
• Handle customer queries and resolve issues professionally and diplomatically
• Maintain accurate communication between all stakeholders
• Ensure compliance with company procedures and manufacturer standards
• Manage warranty processes and service administration
Skills & Experience Required
• Strong knowledge of agricultural, construction, or horticultural machinery
• Previous supervisory or management experience (desirable)
• Experience managing technicians and workshop operations
• Understanding of financial reporting, KPIs, and performance metrics
• Familiarity with manufacturer warranty processes
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Strong organisational and multitasking abilities
• Confident in handling staff-related matters in line with company procedures
• Proactive and methodical problem-solving approach
• Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels
• Discretion when handling confidential matters
• Ability to manage customer expectations effectively
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
• Professional and customer-focused approach
Additional Information:
Start Date: Immediate, subject to successful candidates notice period.
Hours: 42.5 hrs. per week – 8am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday (1-hour unpaid lunch). Additional hours may be required to include Saturdays and peak times e.g. harvest Contract: Permanent, Full time,
Salaried Salary: £Competitive - dependent on experience (range £38,000 to £44,000 per annum) plus company vehicle, company mobile phone and profit-related bonus
