Job description

Simulation Engineer - Discrete Event Simulation / Operational Research The Company Simsol is a reseller of engineering software and has been around since 1997, helping customers with their manufacturing and engineering challenges. We are small team of engineers and geeks who work hard but within a relaxed working environment. We specialise in re-selling niche software and consulting services to a vast group of different customers including automotive, aerospace & defence, food & beverage and ‘nuts & bolts’ type companies. Our team is mostly remote and the expectation is that this role will also be remote. The Candidate We are looking for a motivated and detail orientated individual who wants to work in the Operational Research area and enjoys solving business operational problems using discrete-event-simulation. This role is a mixture of customer facing and hands on simulation work. The ideal person for this role will have: • A degree in mathematics, a numerate subject or engineering. • 3 – 5 years’ experience within discrete event simulation or operational research. • A love for problem solving. • Text based programming knowledge or exposure to computational thinking. • Experience or interest in manufacturing and logistics. • Good communication skills. • Positive attitude. • Ability to prioritise and get things done. • Ability to work autonomously. • Attention to detail. The role On a day-to-day basis you will be: • Be the subject matter expert with Discrete Event Simulation. • Scope project work for customers. • Develop and deliver simulation models. • Technical demonstrations of the software to customers. • Support customer with technical queries. • Training customers. • Customer site visits from time to time. The package: • £35 - £45K salary dependant on experience • Christmas closure (discretionary days given) • 20 days holiday with option to buy extra via salary sacrifice. • Remote working. • Company Pension. • Employee Assistance Programme • Yearly salary review. • Flexible start and finish times Location: This is a remote role however there will be an expectation that the individual travels to our Manchester office from time to time.
