Job description

About the Role Coventry City Council is seeking an experienced and dedicated Social Worker to join its Fostering Team. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a supportive and progressive service, making a meaningful difference to the lives of children, young people, and foster families. You will manage a complex caseload, undertaking assessments and interventions to support children and young people, whilst working collaboratively with families, carers, and partner agencies. Key Responsibilities • Manage a complex caseload under the guidance of a Team Manager. • Undertake planned and intensive interventions with children, young people, parents, carers, and families. • Work with children in need, child protection cases, and looked after children. • Implement, monitor, and review care plans through effective multi-agency working. • Build positive and professional relationships with children, families, carers, and significant others. • Liaise with partner agencies and professionals to achieve the best outcomes for children and young people. • Prepare and present reports for conferences, court proceedings, and statutory/internal panels. • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records in accordance with local authority policies and procedures. • Contribute to service improvement initiatives and performance management requirements. • Maintain continuous professional development and uphold high practice standards. Experience • Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England. • Experience working within Children's Services, ideally within a Fostering Team. • Strong assessment, report-writing, and case management skills. • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities. • A sound understanding of relevant legislation, safeguarding practice, and statutory responsibilities. • Ability to effectively manage a complex and demanding caseload.
