The role An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Retailer Specifications Technologist to join a dedicated technical team. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the accuracy, compliance and quality of finished product specifications and associated documentation. Key responsibilities include: • Creating and maintaining accurate finished product specifications and artwork • Ensuring compliance with all food safety, legal, quality and authenticity standards • Coordinating information across internal teams and manufacturing partners to support new product specifications • Supporting new product development by providing accurate specifications at key project stages • Managing change control processes and ensuring updates are communicated effectively • Responding to customer enquiries through the collation of detailed technical information • Supporting certification processes (including relevant product accreditations) • Monitoring updates in customer policies and legislation, assessing their impact on products and processes • Contributing to continuous improvement of specification systems and processes • Maintaining accurate records and supporting wider team activities as required This is a varied and fast-paced position, offering the opportunity to work cross-functionally and make a real impact on product integrity and customer satisfaction. The candidate To be successful in this role, you will bring strong technical expertise combined with excellent attention to detail and a proactive mindset. Key requirements include: • Degree (or equivalent) in a food science or related discipline • Significant experience in product specification creation and maintenance within the food industry • Experience working with major retailer specification systems • Solid understanding of food safety standards, including HACCP • Working knowledge of UK/EU food labelling legislation • Strong understanding of ingredients, allergens, and production processes • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills You will be a driven and motivated individual with a “right first-time” approach, a keen eye for detail, and a collaborative style that enables you to influence and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
