Staff Nurse - Oncology

The Staff Nurse Oncology is responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centred nursing care to patients receiving cancer treatment within The Christie Private Care. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the post holder will assess, plan, implement and evaluate care, ensuring patients receive safe, effective and compassionate treatment throughout their cancer journey. The successful candidate will provide holistic care that addresses patients' physical, emotional and psychological needs while maintaining the highest standards of clinical practice. They will monitor patient progress, administer prescribed treatments and medications, including intravenous therapies, and respond appropriately to changes in a patient's condition. The post holder will work collaboratively with consultants, specialist nurses, pharmacists and allied health professionals to ensure coordinated and seamless care delivery. They will provide support and education to patients and their families, helping them to understand their treatment plans and make informed decisions about their care. A key aspect of the role is maintaining accurate and comprehensive clinical documentation, adhering to organisational policies, professional standards and regulatory requirements. The Staff Nurse will actively contribute to patient safety initiatives, clinical governance activities and service improvement projects to support the ongoing delivery of outstanding care. The role offers the opportunity to develop specialist oncology knowledge and skills through structured training and professional development. This includes education in Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatments (SACT), stem cell administration and emerging cancer therapies, enabling the nurse to provide increasingly specialised care within a world-renowned cancer centre. The post holder will demonstrate excellent communication, professionalism and clinical judgement, acting as an advocate for patients and promoting a culture of compassion, respect and continuous improvement. They will be expected to maintain their NMC registration, participate in mandatory training and contribute positively to the development of the wider nursing team.
