Stores Operative

Role: Stores Person / Forklift Operator Location: Lewes, East Sussex Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00am - 5:00pm (47.5 hours per week) Pay: £31,600 - £32,300 per annum (£12.80 - £13.10 per hour, depending on experience) Contract: 12-week temporary to permanent An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Stores Person / Forklift Operator to join one of our longstanding clients, a growing and well-established scrap yard and recycling business based in Lewes. This is a hands-on role supporting the smooth running of the stores function, ensuring engineers and yard staff have the parts, materials and equipment they need to keep operations running safely and efficiently. Benefits • 12-week temporary-to-permanent opportunity • Training on systems, stock processes and yard operations • Support with licences and qualifications, including forklift, COSHH and health & safety training • Long-term job security within a stable and growing business The Requirements • Previous experience within a stores, warehouse, yard or parts environment • Excellent organisation skills and attention to detail • Comfortable using computers or tablets for data entry and maintenance systems • Physically fit and comfortable undertaking manual handling duties • Able to work within a heavy industrial or scrap yard environment • Reliable, proactive and safety conscious approach to work Desirable: • Experience within a scrap yard, recycling, engineering or industrial environment • Valid Counterbalance Forklift Truck licence • Familiarity with maintenance parts including bearings, motors, hydraulics, filters and fixings The Role • Receive, check and book in deliveries of parts, consumables, PPE and materials • Organise and maintain stock within the stores area • Issue parts and materials to engineers and yard staff whilst maintaining accurate records • Monitor stock levels and identify reordering requirements • Carry out regular stock checks and support annual stocktakes • Prepare parts for planned maintenance work and breakdown repairs • Organise reusable parts and identify serviceable and scrap materials • Assist with loading and unloading deliveries using a forklift or pallet truck where trained • Maintain a clean, safe and organised stores environment • Follow all health and safety procedures, including COSHH requirements and PPE guidelines If you're keen to join an exceptional team who can offer excellent training, long-term career prospects and the opportunity to play a key role within a growing industrial business, then please apply to this Stores Person / Forklift Operator role below or call Martin Davis on between 8:00am - 4:30pm.
