Job description

Would you like to gain experience or increase your existing knowledge and practice of working with adults with a learning disability and mental health needs? We are seeking a highly motivated Support Worker to join our small, friendly team in the beautiful conservation area of Stanwix, Carlisle. You will be based at one of our 24-hour supported living services, where you will provide care and support for 7 adults, each living in a fully furnished one-bedroom flat. Our project is conveniently located with easy access via public transport. The ideal candidate will have a positive outlook and enthusiasm, with the ability to engage and motivate individuals to participate in a range of activities. You should also be aware of the challenges that the people we support face on a daily basis, and have an understanding of how care is delivered in a Supported Living setting. A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively as part of a team are essential. Your role will include: • Providing positive support to residents, enabling them to take part in community activities. • Following and developing personalised support plans that help tenants build domestic, financial, and emotional management skills, promoting confidence and greater independence. • Building warm and trusting relationships with tenants • Communicate and collaborate with statutory bodies, voluntary agencies and advocates/family members. Prior support-related experience is beneficial. You must be able to work flexibly over a seven-day rota which will include morning, afternoon shifts and sleep-in shifts.
