Teaching Assistant (SEMH Support) – Fixed Term (1 Year) Hemel Hempstead | September Start | Full-Time | £15 - £17 per hour REED Education are delighted to be working in partnership with a lovely and welcoming primary school in Hemel Hempstead to recruit a dedicated Teaching Assistant for a full-time, one-year fixed-term contract, starting in September. This rewarding role will involve providing focused support to a small group of Year 5 pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, working on a 1:3 basis to help them access learning, develop positive relationships, and achieve their full potential. The Role As a Teaching Assistant, you will: • Provide targeted support to three Year 5 pupils with SEMH needs. • Build positive, trusting relationships that promote confidence and engagement. • Support pupils both inside and outside of the classroom. • Help implement strategies to manage behaviour and emotional regulation. • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider school staff. • Encourage independence, resilience, and social development. • Contribute to a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment. The Ideal Candidate The school is seeking someone who: • Has previous experience working with children, ideally within a school setting. • Has experience supporting pupils with SEMH, behavioural, or additional learning needs. • Is patient, resilient, and able to remain calm under pressure. • Can build strong professional relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues. • Has a genuine passion for supporting children's development and wellbeing. • Holds a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent experience (desirable but not essential).
