Location: Primary School, Wirral Hours: 17.5 hours per week Working Pattern: Monday – Friday, 12:00pm – 3:30pm Start Date: September 2026 Daily Payrate: £95 - £105 About the RoleWe are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Level 1 Teaching Assistant to join our team at a welcoming primary school in the Wirral. The successful candidate will provide 1:1 support for a pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), helping them to access learning and develop independence within the classroom. This role requires a patient, nurturing individual who is confident in supporting children with additional needs and committed to inclusive education. Key Responsibilities • Provide 1:1 tailored support for a pupil with ASD • Use Makaton and a total communication approach to support understanding and expression • Implement strategies to support pupils with: • Autism (ASD) • ADHD • Global Developmental Delay • Support sensory regulation, particularly for a sensory-seeking pupil • Assist with intimate care needs in a respectful and dignified manner • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver personalised support plans • Promote positive behaviour, engagement, and emotional wellbeing Essential Requirements • Experience working with children with ASD and additional needs • Knowledge and practical experience of Makaton • Understanding of ADHD, sensory needs, and global developmental delay • Experience providing intimate care • Ability to use a total communication approach • A clear, confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills • Calm, patient, and adaptable approach to supporting pupils Desirable • Previous experience in a primary school setting • Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 1 or equivalent) • Experience supporting sensory regulation strategies Closing Date: Friday 3rd July 2026
