Special Needs Teaching Assistant (PMLD) Location: Urmston Job Type: Full-Time, Term Time Only Salary: Competitive rates of pay Tradewind Recruitment is currently recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and supportive primary special educational needs setting in Urmston for a dedicated Special Needs Teaching Assistant to support pupils aged 5-11 with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD). This is a full-time position offering the opportunity to work closely with children who require specialist support to access learning, communication, and daily activities. The successful candidate will join a committed team focused on delivering high-quality care and education to pupils with complex needs. The Role: • Provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with PMLD. • Assist pupils with learning activities tailored to their individual needs and abilities. • Support personal care, feeding, and mobility requirements where necessary. • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff to deliver personalised learning programmes. • Promote communication, engagement, independence, and wellbeing. • Help maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment. The Ideal Candidate Will Have: • Previous experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs, particularly PMLD, complex needs, or learning disabilities. • A patient, caring, and resilient approach. • Strong communication and teamwork skills. • A willingness to support pupils with personal care needs. • Relevant qualifications in education, care, health, or SEN support are advantageous but not essential.
